Ugandans reject homosexuals - Study
By Elizabeth Agiro
HOMOSEXUALS will surely have a hard time convincing Ugandans to accept them as they are. In a July study, a sample of 500 adult residents in Kampala showed that 95% did not agree that homosexuality be legalised, 4% wanted it legalised and another 1% could not decide.
The East Africa Social Political Economic and Cultural Barometer is conducted by the steadman Group on a weekly basis in Nairobi, Kampala and Dar-es-salaam.
The survey, conducted at the end of July, sampled 500 adult residents in each of the three cities.
The sampled group included 49% females and 51% males, 18% Muslims were interviewed, 31% Catholics, 36% protestants and 15% other Christians.
The homosexual community in Uganda recently complained about discrimination and demanded that the public accept them.
