Manchester United plan Ugandan tour
By James Lwanga
ENGLISH Premier League champions Manchester United have it in plan to visit Uganda next summer.
According to a British tabloid Daily Mail, United defender Rio Ferdinand suggested to the club chief executive David Gill that the club should visit Uganda.
The paper quoted Gill as saying: “Apparently the reception Rio Ferdinand got in Uganda this summer was incredible. He sent me a text when he was there saying ‘Mr Gill, we’ve got to come to Uganda.’ Maybe we will.”
Ferdinand toured Uganda last month and visited the Proline soccer academy which is a brainchild of former KCC FC player Mujib Kasule.
Gill revealed on Friday night that the club will embark on a second tour of South Africa next summer and then turn the spotlight on Africa’s developing nations.
Gill said: “You travel and you see all the coverage and the amazing support we have. Chelsea have been having a great time in America, which is fine.”
United is currently touring Asia in a bid to promote their popularity in the region.
