With online poker constantly growing in popularity, it is little surprise that we are seeing more and more major events pop up for players to join. The World Series of Poker has been a pillar of the poker community for years, and it is now possible to play their games online.

Why Play Online Poker?

Poker as a whole is a great game that many love to play. A lot of people can pick it up by playing with friends, or even by watching the WSOP broadcasts when the Main Event is live. No matter what variation you decide to play, it is never too difficult to find out more about how to play poker.

Internet poker has existed for about the same length of time as the world wide web, and it just keeps getting better and better. There are so many games to take part in. Safe internet users can track down some great and fair sites where they can play their favourite poker games, and can enjoy their favourite game without ever leaving the comfort of their own home. For those who might not be able to make the distance to a big in-person tournament, it still offers them a chance to enjoy an epic game.

The WSOP Online Main Event

The WSOP Online Event was the second major poker tournament organised online by the WSOP. Hosting was shared between them and GGPoker, another online poker platform that hosts a variety of different games.

The WSOP handled the games for players located in New Jersey and Nevada, while GG Poker took care of the ones from outside the USA. There were 33 bracelet events in total – giving players a great chance to pick up one of the most coveted prizes in poker. The Main Event attracted 4092 players to its $20 million guaranteed prize pool. The final table took place on the 11th of September and was won by Russian Aleksei Vandyshev. He started the table with 22.2% of the chip share, the second-largest share, but walked away with First Place, and a top prize of $2,543,073.

Can I Enter a WSOP Event?

Yes, one of the great things about the WSOP is that anyone is able to enter the games. All you need is to be older than the minimum age of 21 and to be able to afford the buy-in of that particular game. No two games of poker are equal, and you will find a range of different buy-ins out there. The lowest for WSOP events can be $10, but they can also easily stretch to thousands for high roller games!

If this is going to be your first WSOP event, you need to be realistic in regards to how you might fare. These are some of the best games in the poker world, and they attract a very high calibre of player to them. Even playing online means that you could end up rubbing virtual soldiers with a pro. It is all a great experience, but you do need to make sure that you manage your expectations realistically if you want to see a good win.

The WSOP online events might only have run for two seasons, but they have proven to be as much fun as many of the other games that we have seen. If you are searching for an easy way to check out some great games of poker, keeping an eye on these games is the best way to go. As Vandyshev proved, there are some epic prizes at stake to be won here.
