The black and white poster for the big cinema event on the Côte d’Azur, which will take place this year from May 16-27, shows Deneuve near Saint-Tropez beach, during the filming of “Love It’s a Strange Game”, by Alain Cavaliere, released in 1968.

For 60 years, the greatest French star has never stopped filming, reinventing himself, experimenting, taking on roles outside his usual track record or [actuar en] First works ”, the festival organizers highlight.

Deneuve has a long history with Cannes. She was vice-chair of the judging panel in 1994, along with Clint Eastwood, and was awarded the Palme d’Honneur in 2005, three years prior to a special award for her career as a whole.

The final film, “Elemental,” will be shown in world preview on May 27th out of competition before being released in theaters on June 16th in the United States.

The story, directed by Peter Sohn, tells of the friendship between “a bold, energetic girl with a strong personality” and “a passionate, funny, and good-natured boy” in the city of Elemental, where fire, water, earth … and air coexist.

The 76th edition of the Cannes Festival has not yet announced the formation of the jury, which will be chaired by Swedish Robin Ostlund, who won the Palme d’Or 2022 with his film “The Triangle of Sorrow”.
