Foundation Real Madrid FoundationIn partnership with the local NGO Youth Sports Uganda and with the support of MTN Uganda, the new Entity Madrid Social Sports School has opened in Uganda. It takes place at Naguru Katali Primary Public School in Kampala. More than 150 minors, ages 5-16, will participate in this after-school program that promotes values education through sports.
Representatives from the Ugandan Ministries of Education and Sports, Health, Finance, Energy and Mining Development, and Justice, as well as local authorities, attended the opening ceremony which included an exhibition of young players. In addition, the event explained the football training methodology and values Real Madrid Foundation. The training area of the Madrid entity carried out remote training with nine teachers and coaches responsible for the development of sports activities in this field.
The objectives of this after-school program focus on strengthening school commitment, promoting gender equality, addressing social inclusion, developing values and promoting healthy habits, with football as an educational and motivational tool. The project is supported by the country’s Ministry of Education and Sports and the Ministry of Health, and supported by MTN Uganda, Uganda’s leading telecom operator. Wim Vanhelput, CEO of MTN Uganda explained: “Supporting an educational cause that uses sport as a tool for development is in line with our values, goals and objectives.” For his part, Javier Lescano, General Manager of the Xcalibur Foundation, thanked the support for giving sustainability to the project.
