This amazing movie by soul pioneer Aretha Franklin made the live recording in 1972 of her amazing gospel album Long Journey to the Screen. Initially, Franklin objected, and she surrendered to the movie coffers and was rediscovered in 2007, but only after her death in 2018 did her family give her consent and allow the performance shots to be released. What follows is an intimate yet extremely powerful performance of Franklin’s singing feat, supported by the Southern California Community Choir. Ammar Kalia
