Torreon, Coahuila. – In the auditorium of the Faculty of Medicine of the Autonomous University of Coahuila, on Friday, Dr. Salvador Chavarria Vásquez presented his second report on activities, corresponding to the second term of management at the head of the Center for Biomedical Research, Children’s Hospitals and Universities of the Torreon Unit.

Dr. Chavarria emphasized that UAdeC is the only university to have three hospitals as well as a research center to teach the student community.

The report was attended by Eng. Jesus Salvador Hernández Vélez, President of the Highest House of Studies; So is the Turion Unit Coordinator, Dr. Sandra Lopez Chavarria; So is Jesus Angel Padilla Gámez, director of Saltillo University Hospital. Dr. Manuel Medina Elizondo and all members of the University’s Board of Directors are made up of teachers and students.

One of the highlights was the opening of the Simulation Center for Medical Training of Students, which is the beginning of a very ambitious project.

He said that this project began to take shape since its first term at the head of the Faculty of Medicine, as he said that this center has already existed for 14 years, “but now it is growing according to the demand for training. The medical student at this time.”

Time is short, because he will be in charge for another year and the challenges in health institutions there is always something to be done. “Despite the pandemic, we have achieved levels of quality, we have standards that are valued by external entities such as the National Medical Residency Examination,” we are in the process of quality accreditation with a path to excellence and only UNAM has that level and we are headed for that. I hope this accreditation will be available on November 29.”

In addition, in the last year the brachial plexus and peripheral nerve program have been reactivated.
